There is nothing better than a good food festival in the summer and the Duke Homestead knows how to do it right. This weekend they will be hosting their annual “Pork, Pickles, and Peanuts: Tastes of North Carolina” event. This free event celebrating North Carolina food culture and history is one you will not want to miss.
The heart of the festival center’s around the highly competitive Barbecue Cook-Off and ends with the sweet treat that is the Pie Competition. Taste all that North Carolina has to offer and join in on the judging by voting for the People’s Choice Award. When you’re nice and full with North Carolina food, you can spend the rest of your time enjoying live local music from six different North Carolina artists. You could also spend your time shopping among the many local arts and crafts vendors set up throughout the festival grounds.
Located a quick ten minutes down the road from our North Carolina inn, the festival runs Saturday, July 11th from 10 am to 4pm. This will leave you plenty of time to finish off your North Carolina food journey at the Arrowhead Inn with our very own Chef Phil.
