Last month we gave you the heads up about North Carolina Beer Month because Durham has so many places to find a delicious brew. And this month we don’t want you to miss out on the chance to try beer created right here the Triangle that you won’t find on tap at Fullsteam, Bull City Burger and Brewing, or Triangle Brewery, so we’re spreading the word about the 4th annual Brew Durham Homebrew Festival. Join the home brewers of Durham at The Belt Line Station on May 4th to taste 50 types of beer and sample tasty appetizers prepared by some of our favorite Durham restaurants. Get your tickets online or at the door, but don’t wait too long, you won’t want to miss this great event!

The 44th Annual Bimbe
For 44 years the Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival has celebrated African and African American history, performances by nationally renowned musicians as well as local dance troupes and bands. Hosted in downtown Durham at CCB Plaza (at 201 N. Corcoran St) on May 18th, this free festival is a great way to celebrate the rich, diverse and unique traditions of Durham.

You’ve heard of triathlons, competitions of strength in biking, swimming, and running, well here’s your chance to watch a triathlon where competitors also test their ability to eat! That’s right, it’s the 6thannual Doughman competition, known around the country as the race where you have to have strength of mind, will, and stomach. You may have heard about the Doughman on Man vs. Food when host Adam Richman participated in the race in 2008. Registration may have already sold out for this year’s race, but you can watch the participants take on some tasty challenges and stop in the restaurants to try them out for yourself!
